PEDRO SORS OF CAÑA Y CARRETE FISHES AT LA BOCANA

Sept. 18, 2005, Juanchys Aguilar, La Bocana, Baja California Sur, Mexico fishing:

We had excellent sportfishing for yellowtail of 12 to 20 pounds, grouper of 20 to 40 pounds, and black sea bass of 110 to 210 pounds. Divers from the commercial cooperativa for shellfish report schools of very large grouper in this productive fishing area from September to December.

This Monday we were visited at Laguna la Bocana by Pedro Sors of the Caña y Carrete television program. He came to fish at Baja with Julio Meza the great fisherman of Valle de San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico, and also an associate of the magazine Caña y Carrete. Sors came to tape a video about fishing for fishing for black sea bass, but after getting bait for them, we encountered many yellowtail of medium size, and also large grouper of 30 to 40 pounds, which were taped.

After two hours at Roca Ballena with Pedro aboard a boat with Capt. Paco Zuñiga, the captain took us to the famous Gringa bank, where Julio Meza took the first fish quickly, but after fighting for a while, it cut the 150-pound leader and got away, a pity. We fish only with Shimano reels, very strong and sure.

Today, we didn't have very good fishing, although we got six large black sea bass. We're hoping for good sportfishing this weekend.
