MEXICAN COMMERCIAL FISHERMEN DOING VERY
WELL ON YELLOWTAIL OFF BAJA CENTRAL COAST

Oct. 22, 2005, Juanchys Aguilar, La Bocana, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

Reporting for both commercial and sportfishing at La Bocana, Doug Pierson of Oregon fished in my boat for three days, and he caught five tuna of 25 to 35 pounds, 61 medium yellowtail, two grouper lost, and no dorado. Winds were 12 to 14 knots from the northwest. It was not possible to catch more fish due to currents and wind.

The commercial fisherman at La Bocana reported very good fishing for yellowtail week. On Friday, Carlos Rodriguez of Ciuidad Obregon and his son Gilberto L. of Tijuana fished in my boat for only two hours and caught 23 yellowtail and four bonito.

Capt. Domingo of the boat Puente I fished with two Americans and caught 36 yellowtail, groupers to 35 pounds, and bonitos. This fishing was 5 miles south of La Bocana.

We have not been able to fish outside for tuna these last three days because of wind, but it will get better.
