BAJA FISHING REPORT FOR LAGUNA LA BOCANA
AND OFFSHORE AT ROCA BALLENAS

Oct. 28, 2005, Juanchys Aguilar, La Bocana, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

In Baja coastal fishing from Oct. 23-27, 2005, we fished from my boat Karol with Derek Arneson, Richard Arneson, and James Chandler. We caught 90 or more medium yellowtail, 13 calico bass, sandbass, and inside the laguna, 10 halibut of medium size, and a grouper. On these four Baja fishing days, we had a lot of wind, of about 20 knots, but even though it was still possible to catch a lot of fish.

Also fishing were Esteban Rey, Thomas, Artur B., and Lance, of Los Angeles, Calif. They fished with my friend Capt. Luis Arce of Punta Abreojos, and from Monday to Friday caught about 200 yellowtail of medium and large size, 26 calico bass, and 24 dorado.

At Roca Ballenas, we caught yellowtail, grouper, and calico bass, with the temperature at 73 degrees, with winds of 19 to 20 knots, fishing 40 feet deep. The dorado and tuna were caught at a distance of 10 to 12 miles.
