CANCUN'S NEW EL CID CARIBE SPORTFISHING FLEET IS UP AND RUNNING

March 1, 2006, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, El Cid Caribe, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico:

The all new, El Cid Caribe resort and sportfishing fleet, is up and running with 300 luxury units built on the white, sandy beach, midway between Cancun and Cozumel, at the wonderfully peaceful small town of Puerto Morelos, Mexico, just 15 minutes from the Cancun International Airport.

The fabulous new hotel and marina complex follows the El Cid mega-resort tradition with 5-star accommodations and a full service marina, offering 120 slips for boats of 25 to 130 feet. At the moment, the El Cid Caribe charter fishing fleet offers two 29-foot Californian sportfishers and two 23-foot super pangas, with more boats to be added as the demand grows.

If large groups require additional sportfishers, they will be provided from outside sources, boarding and disembarking at the all new marina. The Cancun area provides excellent sportfishing, often within a mile of the marina and the seasonal catches include marlin, sailfish, tuna, dorado, wahoo, barracudas, sierra, shark, snapper, amberjack, bonito and grouper.

The El Cid Caribe fleet and marina manager, Mario Anzoategui, speaks fluent English and looks forward to the privilege of providing a first class service for all customers.

Only a few fishing boats were out this week, a super panga that returned with 8 barracuda, 20pounders, and 4 dorado, 35 pounders, and another boat had a single sailfish, the first for the fleet. We should have a more thorough fish report next week, allowing for a full week's activity.

Puerto Morelos climate was mostly sunny and warm this week, with 70-degree nights to 88-degree daytime highs. Sea conditions were 12 to 14 knots of surface wind, with water temperatures from 80 to 81 degrees. The best fishing area was very close, only 1 to 3 miles from the marina.
