GOOD CANCUN OFFSHORE FISHING ACTION FOR EL CID CARIBE BOATS

June 2, 2006, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, El Cid Caribe Fleet, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico:

The Cancun sportfishing area had another week of very good action for the Puerto Morelos Fleet. The better billfish catches were being reported, during some longer fishing days.

El Cid Caribe charter boat fleet manager Mario Anzoategui's report for a total of 15 Cancun fishing days, including 11 offshore days and 4 inshore days, reflected 1 blue marlin, 2 white marlin, 10 sailfish (with 9 of the billfish were released), 26 dorado, 12 barracuda (6 released), 3 tuna, 6 dog snapper, and 1 sierra.

Cancun weather was partly cloudy and tropical, with 78 degree nights to 92 degree daytime high's and a little humidity in the air

Cancun fishing area sea conditions were fairly calm for most of the week with some afternoon wind chop and water temperatures at 82-83 degrees throughout the region. Rigged ballyhoo baits were working well on the billfish and the dorado were being taken on both, rigged baits and artificial lures. The best fishing area was 5-10 miles offshore of the El Cid Caribe marina for the billfish, starting at about 15 minutes from the dock.
