MIXED SPECIES SALTWATER BIG GAME FISH PUT
ON A GOOD SHOW FOR SOLMAR BOATS

June 30, 2004, Solmar Fleet, Cabo San Lucas fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Fishing off Cabo San Lucas this past week took on a sort of pick-your-own fish. Be it marlin, sailfish, dorado or tuna, they all put on a good bite.

No doubt Lynn Moore of Clovis, Calif. would agree. Fishing aboard the Solmar II at the Gordo Banks, Moore put the prod to a pair of striped marlin, one sailfish and six yellowfin tuna.

Fred Clark of Marco Valley, Calif., and Mark McAnnely fished the same location with similar results. Clark caught nine dorado and two stripers from the Solmar IV. McAnnely, of Ramona, Calif., nailed a single striper and sailfish, plus one dorado on the Solmar II.

The Las Destilladeras also furnished some topnotch catch results, as seen in the five yellowfin tuna, one dorado and one striped marlin taken by Carson Hubbard of McArthur, Calif. He fished the Solmar VII. Ernie and Adrian Preston of Devon, Penn.

Also did well at the Destilladeras, taking one striper, eight yellowfin and one dorado aboard the San Lucas IV. Pennsylvania angler John Strauss worked the San Jose del Cabo area to catch and release a single striper fishing from the San Lucas IV.

While Chuck Bran of Montebello, Calif., failed to take any billfish, the 13 yellowfin tuna he caught were sufficient to assure the crew of the El Torito that he plans to return for another trip.

Captain of the week honors went to Mario Arballo of the Solmar IV, who in five Cabo San Lucas outings produced 11 striped marlin, 12 dorado and 11 yellowfin tuna. Total catch for the week included 44 striped marlin, four sailfish, 63 yellowfin tuna, 27 dorado, 12 sierra and eight skipjack.
