BLUE MARLIN ARE CHASING DORADO IN WARM
SOUTHERN BAJA FISHING WATERS OFF CABO

Oct. 9, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico Fishing:

Cabo San Lucas dorado action was full speed and the blue's are in and after the dorado.

The "Fish Cabo", reporting for 5 fishing days reflected 1 striper released, 1 wahoo, 4 dogtooth snapper and 40 dorado.

The "Juanita VIII", reporting for 2 days reflected 10 dorado and 2 yellowfin tuna.

It appears that the blue marlin know it's getting close to tournament time and have started to bite. While they are mostly smaller fish in the 200-300 lb. ranges, the "Tracy Ann" checked-in a 380-pounder for Derek Blight, England, following a 4.5-hour battle.

Overall Cabo San Lucas fish counts for Gaviota Fleet, reporting for 49 fishing days, reflected 8 blue marlin, (5 released) 11 Striped marlin, (8 released) 3 sailfish released, 9 wahoo, 29 yellowfin tuna, 21 skipjack and 158 dorado.

Cabo San Lucas Climate: Sunny, warm and clear skies, temps from 69 nights to 95 daytime highs

Sea conditions: Interesting water temps, 77 degrees at Cristobal Ridge but 82ish on the Golden Gate & Jaime Bank and 84ish at the Gordo Bank and out to the 1150.

Best Cabo San Lucas Fishing Area: Gordo Banks area

Best Lure/Bait: Skipper's are being secretive about what they are catching their blue marlin on and all we know is the bite has been good on the artificials. Live bait best for the striper and sail action and dorado were pretty eager on whatever moved.
