CABO SAN LUCAS WEEKLY FISHING REPORT FOR
GAVIOTA FLEET AND THE FISH CABO BOATS

May 6, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

The Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet of Cabo San Lucas, reporting in for 37 fishing days, reflected about one out of every three boats landed a billfish, producing 11 stripers, (7 released) 1 sailfish released, 2 dorado, 7 wahoo and 24 yellowfin tuna. The "Fish Cabo" was out for repairs this week, after hitting a whale shark and the "Juanita VIII" is in the final days of her maintenance renovations. Look for both to be fishing this next week.

Cabo San Lucas weather had lots of sunshine, with temperatures from 65 degree nights to 91 degree daytime highs.

Cabo San Lucas sea conditions were improving by the day, with a hefty temperature break at Cabo Falso and running to the southeast, changing from 66-67 degrees to 75-76 degrees outside San Jose and northward.

The best Cabo San Lucas fishing area remains offshore 20-22 miles above the Gordo Banks. Live bait is a must, with very few billfish sticking to the lures.
