CABO SAN LUCAS SLOW ON ANGLERS BUT
FISHING STEADY AT ABOUT 2 BILLFISH PER DAY

Sept. 9, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico Fishing:

Cabo San Lucas was slow on angler activities, but the fishing picked up and was pretty good, with an average of 2 billfish per boat day.

The largest fish for the week was taken aboard the "Gaviota X", skippered by Captain Nicolas Winkler, when his angler, Jesus Babadilla landed a 500 lb. blue marlin.

Overall Cabo San Lucas catches reflected 3 blue marlin, (2 released) 4 dorado, 14 sailfish, & (12 released) and 19 stripers, (13 released) for 19 fishing days. The "Fish Cabo", reporting for 2 Cabo San Lucas fishing days reflected 1 blue marlin released, 4 yellowfin tuna and 3 dog toothed snappers. "Fish Cabo I", reporting for 3 Cabo San Lucas fishing days reflected 4 stripers released and 4 sailfish released.

Cabo San Lucas weather was partly cloudy days with temperatures from 76 to 99, but a much higher heat index rating.

Sea conditions were generally, good on both sides of Cabo San Lucas. Temperatures ranged from 81 on the Pacific side and blended to 85 at the Gorda Banks. The 1150 spot was one of the better fishing areas, but fish were caught from the olden Gate and around to the 1150. Live bait was best, especially for the sailfish and stripers. The live bait supply was good, all caballitos, but a good chance to replenish with mackerel on the Pacific side.
