IN CABO SAN LUCAS FISHING THIS WEEK

Sept. 23, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas, Baja Calfornia Sur, Mexico Fishing:

Gaviota Fleet's largest fish for the week at Cabo San Lucas was a 350 pound blue marlin, taken aboard Capt. Arnulfo Garcia's "Gaviota II" by angler Paul Briskel.

Overall catches for the fleet for 29 Cabo San Lucas fishing days reflected 2 blue marlin, 22 striped marlin, (18 released) 14 sailfish released 3 wahoo, 34 dorado and 23 yellowfin tuna.

The "Fish Cabo" reported in for 5 fishing days and reflected 1 blue marlin released, 4 stripers released, 3 sailfish released, 24 dorado & 1 wahoo.

The "Fish Cabo I" reporting for 3 Cabo fishing days reflected 6 stripers released and 1 sailfish released.

Cabo San Lucas weather continues to be hot with temperatures ranging from the upper 70's to low 100's and mostly sunny days. Sea conditions had warm fishing waters from 86 degrees at the Golden Gate on the Pacific side to 89 at the Gorda Banks on the Sea of Cortez side.

The best Cabo San Lucas fishing area was at the 1150 fathom spot, best for billfish, and the Pacific side was best for dorado. Live bait was best for the sailfish, both blue's taken on artificials and the stripers about 50-50 bait/lures. The live bait supply remains good, all caballitos this week.
