PORT OF CABO SAN LUCAS REOPENS FOLLOWING STORMY WEATHER

Oct. 7, 2005, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

With the reopening of the Port of Cabo San Lucas on Monday, October 2nd, the boats were allowed to return to the fishing grounds again. Fishing at Cabo San Lucas was a little slow in the beginning of the week but progressively got better through the end of the week.

Overall catches for the 36 Cabo San Lucas fishing days with the Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet reflected one small blue marlin, 24 stripers, (22 released) 1 sailfish released, 7 dorado, 1 wahoo and 17 yellowfin tuna.

The Fish Cabo released 1 striper for a single fishing day and the Fish Cabo I caught 8 dorado and 1 yellowfin for 2 fishing days.

Cabo San Lucas had unstable weather at week's end with a chance of Thunder storms, mostly cloudy, temperatures from 75 degree nights to 91 daytime highs.

Cabo San Lucas water temperatures ranged from 83 degrees on the Pacific to 86 at the Gorda Banks with some inshore discoloration and phasing into cleaner waters offshore. The fish remained scattered about the area following Tropical Storm Otis and have yet to settle on a specific area.
