CABO SAN LUCAS FISHING BOATS FINDING BEST ACTION AT THE OLD LIGHTHOUSE

Jan. 13, 2006, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Cabo San Lucas fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

Cabo San Lucas sportfishing was very difficult in the early part of the week, but bounced back quite a bit by the end of the week.

The area of fish that was outside of Chileno seemed to move back to the Cabo Falso drop off at the old lighthouse area, with most of the billfish being taken by drift fishing live bait.

The "Fish Cabo I" reporting for 4 fishing days reflected 2 stripers released, 6 dorado and 9 yellowfin tuna

The "Fish Cabo I", also reporting for 4 fishing days reflected 4 stripers released, 2 dorado, 2 yellowfin tuna and a single wahoo.

Gaviota Sportfishing Fleet, reporting for 30 fishing days, reflected 13 stripers, (8 released) 7 dorado, 1 roosterfish and 37 yellowfin tuna.

Cabo San Lucas weather was mostly cloudy, with temperatures from 57 degree nights to 83 daytime highs, good sea conditions from the Golden Gate to Gorda Banks, and fairly stable water temperatures at 74-75 degrees.

The best fishing area was the Cabo Falso drop-off off Old Lighthouse. Live bait, drift fishing, was best and the live bait supply remains very good and replenishable during the day's fishing.
