OUTSTANDING CABO TRIP WITH GAVIOTA FLEET AND POCHOS' CHARTERS

Aug. 24, 2006, Art Coleman, Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

I have written many reports on my fishing trips to Baja and the mainland of Mexico, but I have never written about the perfect trip until now.

My wife Patricia and I just returned from Cabo San Lucas, August 18-22, 2006. We went down with 10 friends and we stayed at the Bahia Condo Hotel and fished with the Gaviota Fleet, and also fished 1 day on the boat Top Gun out of Pochos' Charters.

Fishing was fantastic. We had all the yellowfin tuna we wanted on the Gordo Bank. Everyone had limits all 3 fishing days.

As an added bonus we had 3 Blue marlin 1 each day. The first blue marlin was about 130 pounds, caught on the first fishing day and he was released.

The second blue marlin was caught by me, Art Coleman, and was estimated at 275 pounds. It took me about 1-1/2 hours to get him to the boat on 50 pound test 300 pound leader. I caught it on the Gaviota IV.

After bragging to my wife Patricia that although she has landed many striped marlin and sailfish, I did not think she could handle a Blue Marlin. Big mistake.

The next day, Monday, August 21st, she hooked and landed a 245 pound blue marlin in about a 55 minutes, also on the Gaviota IV. This blue did not survive as it had the lure to far down into its stomach.

This was the perfect trip. The service from Gaviota Fleet and the Bahia Hotel was the best I have ever had on any trip to Cabo, bar none.

We fished 1 day on the Top Gun out of Pochos' and had great fishing on the yellowfin tuna and once again the crew was great and the boat is topnotch. Like I said this was the perfect trip and I cant say enough about all the crews and the hotel staff.

Cabo air temperature was 98 degrees, water temp 88, winds 10 knots max. All fish were caught on the Inner Gordo Bank.
