EAST CAPE 2004 PRO ANGLER FISHING TOURNAMENT RESULTS

June 9, 2004, Mike Rhoades, East Cape, Baja California Sur, Mexico Fishing Report:

Just arrived back from Palmas De Cortez where I participated in the 32nd Pro Angler Tournament with Dan Bohannon. We had 9 teams and caught and released 40 Marlin, 151 Tuna and 7 Dorado.

The marlin ran to 200lbs, the Tuna's to 70 lbs, and the dorado to 40 lbs. We fished Friday thru Sunday the 4th thru the 6th.

The weather was HOT, high 90's, and the sea was flat with a slight breeze in the afternoon. The tuna where out an hour and a half to two hours.

For the Tuna we fished, if you have a Baja Directions map, was area "F" down to Area "B". That's straight out from Palmas de Cortez approx 20 miles and then south about 10 miles off Cabo Pulmo. There's a huge area of tuna there right now. We fished 3 days Fri, Sat, Sun. A few of us went out on Monday A.M. to rooster fish for three hours but no luck.

By the way I sat next to Russell Fritz and his daughter at Palmas Saturday night and heard about his big bull dorado. What a great guy he is and so interesting to listen to.
