EAST CAPE FISHING BOAT DUSTY B III LANDS 10 MARLIN
IN MARLIN STAMPEDE SOUTH OF THE GORDO BANKS

June 19, 2004, Ann Hazard at Buena Vista Beach Resort, East Cape, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

There was what we're calling a Marlin Stampede, just south of the Gordo Banks, about 5 miles offshore.

My dad's (Togo Hazard’s) new boat, the Dusty B III, a Blackman 29 with twin Cummins Diesels, 6 cylinders, was on its second day of fishing.

Day One (Sunday, June 13) they caught 10 marlin.

Day 2 (of the rodeo) was 3 marlins.

Day 3, yesterday they caught 7. Total 20!

In its first 6 days of fishing the boat has caught 26 marlin.

There were around 70 boats involved, almost all with simultaneous hookups. Vicente Cosio, my dad's captain says, this only happens once every decade and it was magnificent. Total chaos because it was in a small area, about the size of our East Cape bay from Rancho to Palmas.

My dad, husband Terry, son Derek, and our friend Kim were all aboard. Kim took some photos. Terry said the boat was too busy spinning donuts like a jetski for him to dare to try to photograph it.

There were big boats from Cabo and lots of boats from East Cape.

Axel said they're all pretty jazzed up!
