EAST CAPE HOTEL FLEET SPORTFISHING BOATS ARE RUNNING
ABOUT 30 MILES TO THE ACTION OR STAYING INSIDE

July 8, 2004, Axel Valdez, Buena Vista Beach Resort, East Cape, Mexico Fishing Report:

Total boats out: 40 Fishermen: 128 Weather Temperature: 93 - 98

East Cape Water Temperature: 81 - 84. Capture/Release Total: Blue Marlin 11, Striped Marlin 16, Sailfish 6, Dorado 299, Tuna 25, Roosterfish 6, Snapper 2, Jack Crevalle 12, Amberjack 5, Bonita 20, Ladyfish 3, Pompano 3, Triggerfish 2, Cabrilla 1, Skip Jack 30, Needle fish 2.

East Cape Water Temperature: One more week with everything as last week, those guests coming soon should continue to have this great conditions.

East Cape Air Temperature: Weather as well has maintain its temperature, but you may thing is raising because of the humidity, even though we have not yet reach the 100's mark.

East Cape Fishing Spots and Distance: Same as last week, fleets are not going to far to catch dorado and marlin, they are venturing out further for tuna, with mix results. Average boat ride to fishing grounds 30 minutes.

Offshore Fishing: Dorado fishing continues to dominate at East Cape, and it is still very close, some big up to 50 lbs. but most of them are in the small to medium size, you can find them from Punta Arena (light house) to el Cardonal, it just depends if you are lucky and find them. Blue marlin's numbers continue to rise as well as sailfish, which is normal, but we have had boats with up to two blues in a day. Striped marlin continues to hang around East Cape, which makes it possible to get all three in the same day.

East Cape Inshore Fishing: I will continue to say it. Mix your fishing days, one day must be inside and with light tackle, inshore fishing continues to offer the most consistent East Cape fishing. There has been really good and quality roosterfishing, this past week Shawn from the Mr. Clouthier group caught and release one over 70 lbs (estimated by captain), he will send us some great pictures taken before its release.

Successful Lures: Petrolero (brown with orange and little gray), Chivato (Yellow, orange, with black stripes), Purpura (black with purple) are the best. The latest was the one used to caught an East Cape blue over 500 lbs. by one of our neighbor friends.

Bait Used: East Cape pangueros found some mackerel this past week. Also some sardines. No big problems with it.

East Cape Highlight of the Week: Dorados definitely, but captains continue to report a lots of hits on blues. This is great news as the big tournaments for the East Cape are just around the corner.
