CHUCK POTTER LANDS A STRIPED MARLIN DURING FISHING AT EAST CAPE

Aug. 1, 2004, Russell Fritz, La Ribera fishing, East Cape, Baja, Mexico:

Fishing at the East Cape has been very good for both blue marlin and striped marlin. The tuna continue to be distant and a gamble, with hotel boats traveling as much as 50 miles. East Cape dorado are being caught as both large singles, and small schoolies, from Frailes to Punta Pescador. We got a very respectable striped marlin yesterday. 77 year old Bud, got his first marlin ever and wired the 154lb.'er in 41 minutes. He had a smile on his face as if he were having another very significant first!

The Morning Star has been one lucky boat recently, with multiple blue & striped marlin being caught & released. Sam Williams from Arizona got his first marlin, a blue weighing 264, Dan Fritz from New London Mn. released a nice striper, Chuck Potter of La Ribera, did the same with a striper that beat a monster blue to the lure. Black & Pink has been the lucky lure for us at East Cape.
