DORADO FISHING LESS THAN SPECTACULAR DURING 10 DAYS AT LOS BARRILES

July 27, 2004, Lance Allen, Los Barriles, East Cape, Baja fishing, Mexico:

I returned to Los Angeles on July 24 after a 10 day stay at mi casa in Los Barriles. The Dorado bite was less than spectacular with all (12) caught over several days with small mackeral and cut bait from a few Skipjack that we targeted with hoochies. That worked well for 12 to 20# Dodos inshore slightly north of Rancho Leonaro. Sardines were pinheads useful only for chum. I did see some nice Blue Marlin taken. Some exceeded 300#.

I normally fish my boat, but the last day I was in town, I fished with my good friend Alberto Cota on the panga "Black Marlin III" owned by Ronny Verdugo. We limited out by 10:30 after finding the Skipjack for strip bait. Thanks for the info. I'll follow up on your lead today.
