GOOD NUMBERS OF TUNA FOUND BY EAST CAPE
FISHING BOATS RIGHT OFF LA RIVERA

Sept. 17-23, 2004, Axel Valdez, Buena Vista Beach Resort, East Cape fishing report, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

Total boats out: 18. Fishermen: 53. Weather Temperature: to high 90's. Water Temperature: 83°- 85°. Catch including released fish: Sailfish 4. Dorado 31. Tuna 20. Roosterfish 1. Snapper 15. Amberjack 2. Bonita 10. Skip Jack 48.

East Cape Fishing Water Temperature: Very nice summer week, therefore water conditions didn't change much from last week.

Air Temperature: Yes, it is hot, but we can say that this summer has been a mellow one, as temperature and humidity have not really have any record holding marks.

East Cape Fishing Spots and Distance: Some of the East Cape fleet venture out to find some very stubborn tuna, but the good thing is that are plenty of tuna still right in front of La Rivera.

East Cape dorado are very close, just a few miles off in front of the hotel.

For billfish our fleet is covering from Cabo Pulmo to Punta Pescadero with ok catches this week (they were better last week).

Off-shore East Cape Fishing: Tuna and dorado is what most of everyone wants, that is what we are fishing mostly for, better number-wise than quality-wise catches.

Billfish it slow down a little, but again most of everyone is tempted with the good fishing for tuna and dorado.

In-shore East Cape Fishing: Reports of roosterfish, amberjack, jacks, etc but not many boats coming in-shore to fish.

Successful Lures: Petrolero (brown with orange and little gray), Chivato (Yellow, orange, with black stripes), Purpura (black with purple). I may be missing some as they tried everything this past week.

Bait Used: Mackerel (which is estrange as the water is very warm) and sardine.

Highlight of the Week: Dorados and tuna continue to dominate the East Cape fishing scene, and it continues to be like the good old day, when you never lost sight of the hotel or land near by.
