TUNA BEING CAUGHT SOUTH FROM CABO PULMO TO LOS FRAILES

Oct. 30, 2004, John Ireland, Rancho Leonero, East Cape, Baja California Sur fishing, Mexico:

Milder weather all week, with mornings about 70 degrees and warm afternoon highs in the 80's, with water temp 84 degrees, and some afternoon breezes and the occasional rain shower. A slower week, with dorado, yellowfin tuna, sailfish, and some wahoo and pargo biting inshore.

Yellowfin tuna - fish from 10-45 lbs inshore south, from Cabo Pulmo to Los Frailes, 2-3 miles offshore, taking exclusively live sardinas.

Dorado - close inshore, many schools with lots of fish from 7-12 lbs, with the occasional larger fish mixed in, taking mostly live sardinas and hoochies.

Billfish - Sailfish and a few Stripers close inshore, with fish mixed in with the dorado and tuna. taking exclusively live mackerel and sardinas.

Inside - Wahoo taken off Gordo Banks, 2-3 per day for the Leonero fleet. A good pargo bite bottom fishing the local reefs with live bait.
