EAST CAPE BOATS FISHING NORTHWARDS FOR DORADO DINNERS

Nov. 13, 2004, Gary Leeper, East Cape, Baja fishing, Mexico:

This week the fishing at the East Cape featured mostly "one dinner" dorado, as four to eight pounds seemed to be the norm, with a few blue marlin and sails. Most East Cape boats fished north because of winds, and the shark buoys off El Cardonal produced most of the dorado on live bait. East Cape water temps were between 89 and 91 degrees. No tuna were seen by me. The number of visitors and fishermen is starting to decrease as is normal for this time of year at East Cape, and soon the migration of wind surfers should be in full tilt. Mackerel were readily available for bait, but sardina were available only at La Rivera and Frailes, and not every day.
