THOUSANDS OF MOBULA MANTA RAYS SEEN NEAR BAJA SHORE AT EAST CAPE

Dec. 23, 2004, Mark Rayor, Vista Sea Sport, East Cape diving report, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

Christmas week has brought a break from the north winds for a few days. The East Cape water temperature is only 71 degrees but diving conditions have been worth pulling on those wet suits. There has been an invasion of thousands mobula (a smaller manta ray) at East Cape. I'm not talking hundreds I'm talking THOUSANDS! From La Ribera to Cabo Pulmo we have had to be careful navigating our boats for fear of hitting one. East Cape underwater visibility has been good and it has been easy to sight them. Schools of pargo and grouper have also moved into the shallows. This has made every East Cape dive exciting.
