EAST CAPE FLY FISHERS FINDING SOME FISH IN RAINY AND SWELLY CONDITIONS

Feb. 12, 2005, Tim Selzer, Baja On The Fly, East Cape fly fishing report, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

The wind is out of the east at about 10 knots and East Cape has been cloudy the last few days, including scattered rain showers. The surf is large on East Cape fishing beaches, but not choppy. The water is warming and clearing. Fishing is good for marlin and okay for dorado. Sierra are hard to find. A Buena Vista boat went out on Tues. (2/8) and caught one marlin, two dorado (mahi-mahi) and two tuna. An East Cape tin boat angler went out yesterday, landed a dorado and hooked a marlin close to shore. Pink and purple seem to be the preferred lure colors. Shore fishing at East Cape has been slow, but a few ladyfish were chasing bait yesterday off the beach here, the first ladyfish I have seen in awhile.

East Cape water temperature is 70-74 degrees, and the air temperature is 66-69 degrees.
