STRIPED MARLIN LEAD OFFSHORE FISHING ACTION AT EAST CAPE

May 6-12, 2005, Axel Valdez, Buena Vista Beach Resort, East Cape, Baja California fishing, Mexico:

Total boats out 60. Fishermen 131. Weather High 80's. Water Temperature 75-78. Catch including released fish: Striped Marlin 66. Sailfish 2. Dorado 5. Tuna 1. Wahoo 3. Roosterfish 2. Snapper 16. Jack Crevalle 3. Ladyfish 2. Squid 3. Cabrilla 2. Skip Jack 5.

Once the northeast wind quit, our ocean continues to go up. This week the East Cape water temperature was reported as high as 78 degrees, which is now coming to normal for early May. We may want to see a little more.

Fishing Spots and Distance: The name of the game this week was "Las Destiladeras" about 10 miles south of Los Frailes.

Offshore Fishing: It was all about fishing for Marlin, and 3 wahoos in the same week, and 2 by the same boat. It means that they are around and those taking the time to fish for them, they very likely will get rewarded.

Inshore Fishing: There were many fish seen all over from El Surgidero to the lighthouse.

Bait Used: Mackerel plenty of it, but this week we needed more fish.

Highlight of the Week: Mr. Hazard on his birthday was able to get 8 stripers.
