FAMILY FISHING TRIP LANDS A STRIPED MARLIN
AT EAST CAPE'S MARTIN VERDUGO'S BEACH RESORT

May 23, 2005, Chris and Debbie Llewellyn, East Cape, Baja fishing, Mexico:

On our recent trip to our home in Los Barriles, our grandson Christian Llewellyn, grandpa Chris Llewellyn, dad Virgil Llewellyn, and our neighbor Russ, all went fishing out of Martin Verdugo's on a boat captained by Ronnie and deckhand Francisco. The weather was beautiful, the seas were calm and we fished in an area near Las Frailes. This was the first game fish trip for our nine-year-old grandson. The catch included Christian's first marlin, with a little assistance from Francisco and grandpa. Catch and release, and figured to be around 120 pounds.

Russ caught his first wahoo after more than 10 years of trying. It was estimated to be 80-100 pounds. We all ate it for dinner that night cooked at Tio Pablo's. Virgil caught his first toro, or jack crevalle, about 20 pounds. Grandpa lost a dorado at the boat.

This will be a day that we will all remember, but an event that Christian will remember all his life, especially learning to catch and release the magnificent marlin.
