COLD WATER TEMPERATURES HAMPER MEXICO FISHING
RESULTS FOR EAST CAPE ANGLERS

June 3, 2005, Jorge Bergin, La Ribera fishing, East Cape, Baja, Mexico:

Cold water at East Cape, no fish. The cold water in the East Cape fishing area continues to scatter the fish and make them picky. I've had my radio on over the last few days and it's pretty grim out there. The upwelling has happened many times before. No La Nina or other anomaly, just a deep water release over by Todos Santos. Just, "Some Junes are for sleeping, others for catching lots of fish." One June here it was over 104 degrees the first 10 days. That time it was too hot to fish. Right now East Cape is 58 degrees at night, 74 during the day. The East Cape fishing water is clear and clean, blue here, green there, full of fish that won't bite.
