Fishing has been pretty much more of the same on the East Cape. If you look at the previous month's worth of reports, the all important fish-per numbers are pretty consistent with the hooks in the water. The fishing itself has changed with Striped Marlin carrying the day one week, and yellowfin tuna carrying the day the next.

This past week saw a jump in the East Cape striped marlin count coupled with a dip in the Yellowfin count.

We did see a few Blue Marlin landed this past week, as well as another Swordfish so that was nice.

Our amigos at Terrafin are reporting a water temperature range of 66-80 degrees. That cold water front is still hanging offshore down south, with the warmer water creeping in towards the north.

Bait-wise, East Cape saw ballyhoo, jurelito, and a few mackerel.

The East Cape Smokehouse flagship, the "Senorita Bonita" enjoyed a safe passage from Pompano, FL to La Paz and finally Los Barriles, via the Panama Canal! We're in the process of cleaning her up and dialing her in after her journey. Her paperwork is being processed and she should be ready for charter the first week of July!

Regarding billfish, East Cape saw a real nice week of Striped Marlin fishing with a ton of action being reported everywhere from northern waters between Punta Pescadero (8-12 miles; vicinity of the shark buoy stops), Los Relices (8-10 miles), Isla Cerralvo and in the vicinity of the 88, and southern waters between Punta Colorada (6-8 miles), Punta Arena (15-18 miles), and El Rincon (8-12 miles).

Rounding out the billfish report was yet another Swordfish! This one was reportedly landed to the south off La Ribera (10 miles) on bait.

East Cape Dorado fishing has yet to really kick in on a consistent basis. The overall catch rate for Dodo this past week was an unimpressive 9%. As has been the case recently, those fish that are being landed are some real nice fish with most in the 35-40 lb. class.

The Yellowfin Tuna numbers took a dip this past week, although there were still plenty being landed and much fun being reported. The good news was that East Cape started to see some better poundage coming in with many fish weighing in at the 40 lb. class.

Several nice wahoo were reported this past week. Anglers reported landings to the north off Isla Cerralvo and in the vicinity of the 88, straight off Los Barriles (30 miles), and to the south off La Ribera (10-12 miles), and Destiladeras (6 miles). Rapalas mostly did the trick there with at least 1 Wahoo being landed on a bait of some type or another.

Rounding out the East Cape sportfishing report were 8 Roosterfish landed inshore at Rancho Leonero.
