EAST CAPE FISHING TOURNAMENT REPORT AT BUENA VISTA BEACH RESORT

July 16, 2005, Bill Burkett, Fat Cat, East Cape fishing, Baja California Sur, Mexico:

My wife, Silvia and I fished the East Cape Los Chinos Tournament out of Buena Vista Beach Resort on Sunday, July 10th before pulling the FAT CAT from the water for oil change, cleaning etc. Although we didn't place in the tournament, we had a good time and managed to catch a striped marlin and a 25 pound dorado.

Part of the reason for pulling our boat is to break-in a friend's new Seaswirl 26 before fishing it in the upcoming East Cape Bisbee next month. Nasty work, but someone has to do it.

So, after moving my tackle to the new boat, my buddy Dave Stephens and I took Viviendo Bien (Living Well) out for her maiden voyage in the Sea of Cortez on Friday, July 15th. We released one striped marlin and missed several more. The next day we were joined by Dave's wife Stevie for two marlin and a sailfish released.

Fishing is very good at the East Cape right now, as two fellows from San Clemente can attest. Tim Wilkes and Mike Hulsey brought Tim's boat BADFISH down and in eight days of fishing released 14 striped marlin and 4 sailfish and caught 7 yellowfin tuna and 2 dorado.
