SPORTFISHING BOAT OSPREY REPORT FOR TRIP OFF ENSENADA COAST

Sept. 1, 2004, Craig Miller, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico Offshore Fishing Report on the Osprey:

We fished Saturday off Banda Bank, Ensenada, in 70.2 degree calm water. Ensenada fishing was extremely scratchy with limited catches of dorado. One large dorado hit an orange feather twice, but spit it out. A lot of bait balls and bait everywhere and available.

We did our own version of Marlin "catch & release". We trolled orange and yellow feathers and had our rod in a rod holder on the flybridge. The marlin slammed the feathers, tore the rod holder off the rail, danced in the wake, and took off with rod and reel still attached. Looked to be over 200 pounds! So, if anyone catches a marlin with a rod and reel attached, it's off the Osprey.
