CHARTER FISHING TRIP ABOARD THE BOAT MAR DIOSA
OUT OF ENSENADA'S MARINA CORAL,

Oct. 17, 2004, Louie Prieto, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico Fishing:

Fished on Saturday 10-16-04 on the 8 pack boat, Capt. Pedro Moreo, Mar Diosa out of the Hotel Coral in Ensenada.

Captain Pedro Moreno has been fishing the waters north and south of Ensenada for over 30 years and never fails to find a variety of fish for us. Our Ensenada fishing group, which included my wife Kay, her son Isaac who was on his first ocean fishing trip, my son Louie Jr., my nephew Guy Prieto, Jerry, son Steven and Bobby De La Paz, left the Hotel Coral marina at 4 a.m. and headed over to the bait barge owned by Mike Richardson for some beautiful and hardy sardines.

We then made the run to fish the shallow water spots around Santo Tomas south of Ensenada. The Mar Diosa is very fast, with its twin turbo diesels and we were there in less than 2 hours under very calm seas.

The bite started slow in 120 feet of water for Lingcod, Red snapper and Whitefish. They were biting on the sardines and frozen squid and some on the iron jigs and plastics. There was lots bait in the water and the porpoise, seals and pilot whales that were in the area were having a feast.

We then made a move to deeper water looking for some bigger fish and hit the mother lode of ocean whitefish that averaged 4 - 6 pounds as well as some nice vermillion rockfish. My wife Kay and Isaac were the hot sticks and consistently filled the two, two hook gangions they were using.

Pedro received a report from another boat of some yellowtail and bonito hitting around the Punta Banda area and after filling the very large 150 quart ice chest with some great tasting bottom fish we headed back to Punta Banda. A couple of miles before the point we spotted some boiling bonito and picked up 4 nice sized fish before calling it a day.

For the money the Mar Diosa is the finest charter boat in the Ensenada fishing area. Pedro and his crew member are top notch and they work hard to help everyone catch fish and have a good time. The boat sleeps 8 comfortably and is very, very clean. The bait tank is huge and they also put the fish on ice as soon as they come over the rail.
