SURFACE FISH NOT BITING DURING ENSENADA FISHING TRIP TO ISLA TODOS SANTOS

May 14, 2005, Memo Gomez, El Dorado Sportfishing, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico Fishing:

This week, we had two boats fishing out of Ensenada, one on Friday with three anglers at Isla Todos Santos, in 61-degree water. We saw yellowtail and barracuda, but they weren't biting as we trolled Rapalas and cast lures. With no fish hitting on the surface, we went to fish on the bottom and it was very good for limits of rockcod, lingcod, Johnny bass, and sculpin. We caught all the fish with anchovies.

On Saturday, four anglers fished in 61-degree water, and again got limits of rockcod, lingcod, calico bass, and whitefish at the kelp beds. Ensenada fishing weather was foggy, but with no wind.
