MEXICO FISHING TRIP PRODUCES YELLOWTAIL ON ACTION LURES

May 16, 2005, Denis Quesnel, Action Lures, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico Fishing:

This past weekend I fished out of Ensenada with Tom Gatch and we caught six yellowtail of 16 to 25 pounds, four lingcod to 10 pounds, and a bunch of rockcod. We fished on a panga at Punta Banda, mainly off lighthouse point. A couple of other Ensenada sportfishing boats were catching the yellowtail on Rapalas. We caught all our fish on chrome Action Lures. The water was a little dirty, so that definitely was the only color that worked.

It was also foggy at Ensenada for 2 hours in the morning, and the seas were really calm. Miguel was the guide. The boat owner's name was Dale. Right at the Blow Hole is where we launched. The water was 61 degrees.
