YELLOWTAIL AND BARRACUDA CAUGHT IN MEXICO FISHING TRIP AT ENSENADA

May 27, 2005, Steve Ross, Bad Dog, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico Fishing:

Gail and Steve Ross, with marinero Alex "Jando" Ruiz, departed Marina Coral at 05:00 and picked up a tankful of medium sized anchovies from Ensenada Live Bait Mike Richardson. We headed for the inside of the Punta Banda rocks. Between that area and the middle of "the gap," breezing yellowtail put us once again into the "run and shoot" game. With a jig stick angler on the bow, and sliding into the working birds, we snagged 4 yellowtail over the day in 60 degree green flat calm water. The largest fish weighed 24.3 pounds and the smallest weighed 18 pounds.

May 28, 2005, Steve Ross, Bad Dog, Ensenada, Mexico Fishing Report:

Gail and Steve Ross, with marinero Alex "Jando" Ruiz, departed Marina Coral at 08:30 with cousins Richard Davis and his sons Wiley, age 11, and Milo, age 8. We headed for the Punta Banda area and found the Ensenada Clipper and a host of numerous local pangas sitting in the water enjoying a vast barracuda bite. Maintaining our "run and shoot" technique with working birds, we caught limits (25) of "log" slime stocks in 1-1/2 hours and left them jumping out of the water at 10:30 a.m. and went home. The yellowtail were gone.
