ROUGH SEAS OFF ENSENADA HAMPER OFFSHORE TUNA FISHING

June 26, 2005, Gerardo Sanchez, KCHTS Sportfishing, Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico:

Last Saturday, we went fishing on a tuna trip. It was bad out there, rough and windy, near the 295 spot. We returned to fish at Ensenada, and we got some bonitas, very good size, and log barracudas in a wide-open bite. The weather inside Ensenada bay was bad. During the week, the fishing action was around Punta Banda, with a lot of barries, and some yellowtail.

On Wednesday, I went fishing south of Ensenada at San Jose Reef, and we got full limits on red rockcod and salmon grouper. There was some wind, and rough water too. The water temperature was around 57 degrees.

On Friday, I fished at Santo Tomas with four passengers, and we lost five yellowtail, but caught one, and we got limits on very good sized lingcods. We trolled purple and black Rapalas.
