GOOD WHITE SEABASS CATCHES FOR 17 CASTRO'S CAMP BOATS

Sept. 20-26, 2004, Fernando Castro, Castro's Camp, Erendira, Baja California, Mexico:

Castro's Camp fishing on Monday and Tuesday had some swells, and after that some Santa Ana wind arrived, but the rest of the week was completely calm with very good weather. We saw lots of bait in the water near Castro's Camp, and many pelicans and sea gulls. The water was clear and blue at 70 degrees.

Castro's Camp had 27 boats out this week, for a catch of 36 white seabass, 22 yellowtail, and many barracuda, red rockcod, lingcod, whitefish, and cabrilla, using live mackerel, frozen squid, and salted sardines for bait. The white seabass were caught 3 miles from the coast in 50 to 80 feet of water, and the red rockcod and lingcod were caught 5 to 6 miles out between 90 and 120 feet deep.
