CASTRO'S CAMP BOATS CATCH 5 WHITE SEABASS DURING THE WEEK

Oct. 18-24, 2004, Fernando Castro, Castro's Camp, Baja California, Mexico:

We had 17 Castro's Camp boats fishing during the week. The weather was good on Monday and Tuesday, but on Wednesday and Thursday we had wind from the south and rain. By Friday and the weekend the weather settled down and got warm again. The water temperature was 66 degrees at 6 miles from the coast, with clear blue color.

During the week Castro's Camp fishing boats caught five white seabass, many barracuda, red rockcod, whitefish, lingcod and bass, and a few bonita. The rockcod were caught toward the north, 6 miles from the coast, in 90 to 120 feet of depth. The white seabass, barracuda and bonita were caught 3 miles out, 60 to 80 feet deep. We used as bait, frozen squid, salted sardines, and all kinds of lures and colors, especially sardinita.
