FERNANDO CASTRO'S BAJA FISHING REPORT

Dec. 12, 2004, Fernando Castro, Castro's Camp, Erendira, Baja California, Mexico Fishing Report:

This week, Castro's Camp had seven fishing boats go out. Monday through Wednesday had very good weather, but Thursday and Friday, Castro's Camp had some swells and wind, and especially on Saturday. By Sunday, the weather was much better again, and Castro's Camp fishing boats caught lots of fish.

The temperature of the water is 60 degrees in our fishing area, 6 miles from the coast, and the water color is clear blue. We continued to catch lots of bottom fish and many big red rockcod and lingcod. This week, we had a lot of reds, lingcod, whitefish, and bass. For bait, we used salted sardines and bonito, frozen squid, and Scampi rubbertails in all kinds and colors. We fished 6 to 7 miles from the coast, and among our clients from the San Diego and Los Angeles areas this week were: Jim Turley, Robert de la Torre, Bob Neilson, Harry Hebler, Rafael Beltran, Rudy Soto, and Sun Nan.
