Castro's Camp Sends 16 Boats Fishing Off Baja Coast

Feb. 27, 2005, Fernando Castro, Castro's Camp, Erendira, Baja California, Mexico:

This week Castro's Camp had 16 boats fishing, and we caught many lingcod, whitefish, and a lot of big Humboldt squid. Also, we got one white seabass of 18 pounds.

The fishing weather at Erendira this week was rainy and windy on Monday and Tuesday with ocean swells to 5 feet. On Wednesday, it rained again in the morning, but was calm in the afternoon. Thursday had good weather. Friday had northwest winds of 10 m.p.h., Saturday had more wind, and Sunday had very good weather again.

Leonel Salazar brought a group of 16 anglers from Los Angeles, and they had very good fishing. The white seabass was caught by the group of Anthony Alanis from Rancho Cucamonga.

The sea surface temperate in our fishing area 4 miles from the coast averaged 62 degrees, and the water is clear blue.
