SMALLER ROCKFISH CAUGHT DURING BAJA FISHING TRIP

Sept. 7, 2005, Joe Chou, Erendira, Baja California, Mexico Fishing Report:

I fished at Erendira with Harry Dibaj of Arcadia and Ronald Chang of Rowland Heights. The rock fish at Erendira were considerably smaller this time than the last fishing trip in July. This time, the fish averaged from 2 to 5 lbs. The 3 of us bagged about 30 rock fish in total, including only one ling, 2 sheephead, 3 whitefish, and assorted rock cods.

Fishing was rough out there in Erendira this past Labor Day weekend as the pangas went north for about 1 hour under big south swells and strong south wind. Guestimation would be about 10 miles north of Erendira? The high sea and winds made me sick after about two hours of fishing but no sign of the red tide. The pangueros were hollering "corvina" over the radio, but I saw no one catching them, but I could be wrong since we had to return early.
