FISHING WATERS COOLING OFF

Oct. 29, 2005, Eric Weissman, Explore Fly Fishing, San Augustinillo, Huatulco, Mexico Fishing Report:

The ocean off San Augustinillo has been cooling off on the surface while the air is warm, very odd. Many warmer water species are staying deep. Sailfish continue to hit, and yesterday some first-timers landed huge dorado, one over 50 pounds. The ocean has been calm, sometimes glassy, some clouds.

Logs are showing up here, holding huge numbers of shark, small dorado, with large cruisers patrolling around them. We landed a pile of sails this week. They have been annihilating my new fly the "Marlin Monster."

First time guests are having a blast. The air temperature has been 80-90 degrees, nights in the low-70s. Water temperature on surface is 77 degrees.
