Zihuatanejo was used as a beach retreat by Aztec kings before being discovered by the Spanish in 1522. Today, it is a picturesque pueblo nestled on the northern corner of Bahia de Zihuatanejo. This once sleepy Mexican village is now a master-planned tourist center of approximately 50,000.
