SPORTFISHING BOATS FIND EXCELLENT INSHORE AND OFFSHORE CONDITIONS

Dec. 18, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:

Excellent conditions for both inshore and offshore species continued in Zihuatanejo last week.

Returning Zihuatanejo flyfishing angler, Mr. Miles McFall, fishing aboard the "Grand Jefe", for four days, had 24 shots at sailfish and 3 dorado hookups.

Canadian angler, Mr. Verna, also fishing aboard the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo boat "Grand Jefe", hooked 3 yellowfin tuna and 2 sailfish for 2 fishing days.

Captain Temo on the "Secuestro de Amor", reported a good mixed bag for his clients from Holland. He reported 2 roosterfish, 1 yellowtail jack, 3 sailfish, 1 dorado, 5 grouper and a handful of small game for 4 fishing days.

Also fishing at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo with Captain Temo, Mr. Ray landed 1 sailfish, 2 grouper and 1 Spanish mackerel for 2 fishing days.

Returning Pittsburg, PA angler, Dr. Joe Marko, fishing aboard the Ixtapa Zihuatanejo charter boat "Marfel" for three days, landed 4 sailfish, 11 yellowfin tuna, 10 yellowtail jacks, 1 roosterfish and 1 dorado.

Captain Arturo Landa, fishing 3 days, reported 5 grouper, 2 sailfish, 4 yellowtail jacks and 1 roosterfish.

Capt. Adolfo Espinosa reported fishing 3 Ixtapa Zihuatanejo days with returning angler, Mr. Jim Collins, landing 7 roosterfish, 19 yellowtail jacks and 15 Spanish mackerel and 1 sailfish.

Mr. Miseri, also fishing with Capt. Adolfo for 4 days, landed 8 sailfish, 10 roosterfish and 1 dorado.

Captain Cheva, "Dos Hermanos II", led Atlanta angler, John Cliff, to 4 sailfish strikes on the fly and returning angler Chris Morrison to 15 Sailfish for 2 fishing days.

Captain Candelario, "Leydy", fishing with European angler, Mr. Frankhauser for 6 days, reported 12 sailfish, 13 yellowtail jacks, 1 roosterfish, 1 chula and 6 Spanish mackerel.

Captain Chiquis Hernandez, "Intruzza", reported 7 sailfish for client, Mr. Minszenmayer, for 5 fishing days.

The bluewater is within 6 miles of shore at Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo inshore action was far enough away to require an extended fishing day of 10 hours duration.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Climate: Temps ranged from 71 to 91, with partly cloudy skies.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Fishing Water Conditions: Excellent conditions prevail with temps at 82-83 degrees.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Bait Supply: Excellent.
