FISHING BOATS LANDING 3 TO 4 SAILFISH PER DAY IN 84-DEGREE WATER

Dec. 24, 2004, Larry Edwards, Cortez Yacht Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo had fabulous fishing for sailfish, with the boats averaging 7 to 8 sailfish raises per day and landing an average of 3 to 4 sails per day and rounding out their catches with a few dorado in the 35 to 45-pound ranges, and an occasional yellowfin tuna.

The better Ixtapa Zihuatanejo blue water fishing action is taking place 8 to 12 miles offshore from Zihuatanejo Bay. The inshore fishing action, especially in the new area to the north of Zihuatanejo, has been producing some trophy sized roosterfish. Captain Adolfo, "Dos Hermanos I", reported 19 roosterfish, all in the 40 to 50-pound range and 12 jack crevalle, for 3 fishing days in this new area, some 20 miles to the north.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Climate: Temps from 69 nighttime to 90 daytime highs, partly cloudy but very comfortable, with light breezes.

Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Fishing Water Conditions. Temperatures remain consistent and stable at 83-84 degrees and the clarity is superb.

The bait supply is excellent.
