OFFSHORE FISH COUNTS IMPROVE WITH THE WEATHER
July 29, 2005, Stan Lushinsky, Ixtapa Sportfishing Charters, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico Fishing Report:
Improving weather and sea conditions made for some outstanding fishing days on the water last week in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo.
Mr Tom Patillo's group led the way by landing 9 SAILFISH and 5 OCEANIC TUNA along with loosing one Marlin in one day while fishing aboard the Intruzza and the Vamonos 3. Mr Patillo also spent one day of inshore fishing with Captain Adolofo on the Dos Hermanos 1 landing 5 nice ROOSTERFISH.
Texas Angler, Ryan Wade also fishing with Captain Adolofo landed 2 SAILFISH on his first day offshore.
Captain Arturo Landed reported a 2 SAILFISH 2 OCEANIC Day for his client.
Captain Chiro on the VAMONOS 3 reported landing 30 OCEANIC TUNA and 1 SAILFISH in one day offshore.
Captian Luis on the Grand Jefe fishing with angler Mr Greenich from Louisiana, landed 2 SAILFISH in one day.
Captain Luis also fished with the Artega family from Mexico city landing 3 SAILFISH and 5 OCEANIC TUNA in one day offshore.
I.S.C.'s local representative Abel Cortez reported this interesting story. A Local commercial diver named Guncho was spearing Pargo near an inshore rock in just a few meters of water. He was astonished to see a huge marlin near shore and took his chances by spearing the huge fish. After several hours he managed to land the big Malrin which he brought to shore. Estimates place the Marlin at over 380 Kilos. Huge Marlin of this size has been hooked but not landed during the late spring and summer months in previous years.
Ixtapa Zihuatanejo weather was sunny and very mild. Sea conditions were calm and the bait supply good.
