MAHI-MAHI CAUGHT ON LIVE BAIT AT OFFSHORE BUOYS

Sept. 11, 2004, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, Las Arenas, La Paz, Mexico Fishing:

At the beginning of the week, La Paz had a lot of rain, but none in the last three days. We had very good La Paz fishing, finally for good sized mahi (also "dorado") of 35 to 45 pounds, around the buoys, using sardina and barrilete for bait.

The small tuna continued in very good numbers at La Paz, and we also caught very nice wahoo of 35 to 40 pounds south of Isla Cerralvo. La Paz fishing vacation area weather has been 80 to 96 degrees, with a lot of humidity this week, and the water temperature in the fishing area has been 78 to 80 degrees. Right now we have good conditions, despite the storms on the Pacific side.
