LOTS OF HUMBOLDT GIANT SQUID PRESENT AT ISLA CERRALVO

Sept. 25, 2004, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, Las Arenas, La Paz, Mexico Fishing:

Fishing continued steady this week at Las Arenas, with the same amount of fish as last week, dorado of 15 to 40 pounds, as well as medium-sized tuna of 15 to 20 pounds, and also wahoo of 35 to 40 pounds.

We have a big quantity of Humbolt giant squid right now, 25 to 35 pounds, around Isla Cerralvo. Right now, we have no problems with bait, which we are finding in good quantity around Isla Cerralvo, as well as the area between Punta Perico and San Isidro. La Paz sportfishing weather was cooler this week, about 82 to 94 degrees, and the water temperature is steady in the mid-80s.
