LOCAL FISHING WATERS COOLER WITH BETTER ACTION

Oct. 3, 2004, Artie Davis, Black Magic Sportfishing, La Paz, Mexico Fishing:

I fished yesterday and found clean 85 degree outside la reina for much of the same, 2 wahoo, 2 dorado, and 2 sailfish.

Fishing here on the La Paz side has taken a turn for the better as the water has cleaned up and cooled down. Areas where the water was 86 to 88 degrees is now in the 82 to 85 range and with it we have seen a lot more fish move in.

Around Cerralvo Island we found a school of wahoo that really wanted to bite, our best day saw us catch 10 in and hour. We left them biting because we had plenty.

Also around La Reina I saw a big school of tuna that was a little boat shy and didn't want to bite; however, it was a nice volume of fish and hopefully it will settle down and want to chew here next week.

Saw a lot of sailfish in the cerralvo channel and managed to catch and release one that weighed around 125 pounds.

Made a long run from La Paz out to the 88 bank were conditions were perfect and we saw a few spots of tuna boiling around and had our chances on a few blue marlin but everything managed to get away. It was just one of those days, but it looked very promising. Did get a few big bull dorado out there though.
