BLACK MAGIC SPORTFISHING REPORT

Nov. 19, 2004, Artie Davis, Black Magic Sportfishing, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:

We finally got back to La Paz after fishing a few of the Cabo tournaments and found nothing but a whole lotta north winds.

They finally subsided for a few days and we found the dorado right where we left them on that southeast corner of Espiritu Santo Island. The grade of the fish is mixed, with everything from small rats of about 5 pounds to nice bulls of about 40 pounds.

The La Paz bait guys have been catching us nice small caballitos that have been working really well as have stripped bonito.

With the exception of those darn north winds, I love winter fishing here in southern Baja for pargo, cabrilla, yellowtail, and grouper. Water temperatures are cooling off a bit and we are catching a few more of those bottom grabbers. Had a real good day on pargo in the bay on some of the rock piles. La Paz divers are also beginning to see yellowtail at El Bajo and some of the other high spots in the area, so we're hopeful they will decide to bite here real soon.
