JUST A FEW BOATS FISHING THIS WEEK

Jan. 2, 2005, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, Las Arenas, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:

During this final week of 2004, we had continued excellent fishing at Las Areas for wahoo, dorado (mahi-mahi), sierra, and some medium-sized red snapper, although once again, very few pangas fished last week, because there are few visitors at La Paz during this season.

Most of the Las Arenas pangas that went fishing last week were commercial boats based at Los Frailes to the south, and at places like Ensenada de los Muertos, the only pangas left are sport fishing boats.

This week, Las Arenas had very good weather of 70 to 82 degrees, with no wind, although today is cloudy, and the water temperature is about 70 degrees at Punta Perico and around Isla Cerralvo, which is where we are fishing.
