TORTUGA BOATS FISHING CLOSE TO ENSENADA DE LOS MUERTOS

Jan. 30, 2005, Gerardo Hernandez, Tortuga Sportfishing, Las Arenas, La Paz, Mexico Fishing Report:

The passage of the week went well, with catches of pargo and dorado (mahi-mahi) around Punta Perico. The pargos were 15 to 20 pounds, and some of the dorado were 25 to 30 pounds, and there was also a good amount of sierra caught.

During this period, we did all of our fishing close to Ensenada de los Muertos, around Boca del Alamo, where we've been finding a good number of dorado. We have lots of bait, sardinas, at Punta Perico. We continued to have few visitors, and only about five total commercial and sportfishing pangas are fishing per day.

We've had little wind, and the weather at Ensenada de los Muertos has been 70 to 76 degrees. The sea surface water temperature in our fishing area has been in the 70s.
